the battle of mental illness
and baggage that has saddled

Osiris had his
own demons though
They would sometimes
visit him up in the studio

he often wrote
about his own lost hopes
vivid dreams of livid screams
from the loved ones
who couldn't nurture souls

I say, abuse comes
in all shapes and forms
Trust issues develop
from a sense of abandonment

Still, Osiris stayed shinning'
jewels that tell
of the struggles
of the Black Male
A sense of entitlement
as a means of survival

He even got along with Chicago
said that's were
our kin folk play
Blackhawks just trying'
to stay above the fray

But these Cubs never did
get along with their
poppa Bears
The Bullheaded
see red spill onto their
White Sox

And often I thought
me and Osiris
were the last of our kind
Two like minds
joined together to
philosophize about the lives
we seen ill in a city of potential
a city of potential

But what good is potential
if you never ever seize it
What good is potential
if you never seen it
Or dreamed it
because your elders
stunted your growth
and even those close to your age
mentally and physically
choke the life out of your light
and act like everything
Osiris survived
during such tragic times

But that also hardened him
to the actions of non-believers
who removed his image from
the sanctuary that he built

Battling' fever
and other afflictions
that comes from a heavy heart
from a lifetime of addictions

But not from drugs or alcohol
but the loneliness
of disappointment
that even a minor offense
is insubordinate

These are the days that will live throughout time
